That day we crossed border, traveled to Montreal and spent most of our day there. In the evening we drove west to Ottawa just in time for a light show.
Drove north-west to Sudbury. Crazy neighbourhood with alcohol and drug rehab behind the corner of our hotel. Found a nice steak chain though (Called The Keg). Laundry in the morning and off we are to Killarney Provincial Park.
Amazing forest, breathtaking views, great and private lake. Note to self: do not fall on the head and split scalp open. Even with the minor injury, best camping I have ever had!
Day of driving (mostly). Georgian Bay, roadside Poutine, crossed border in Michigan, started traveling along lake's eastern shore. Beautiful views! Sunset into the lake - what can be better? All of that was followed by a great dinner and the best lodging experience. $139 for an apartment with jet tub, 2 bedrooms and full kitchen. Not to mention a 60" flat screen. After a great night sleep, off we go to Chicago - another full day of driving along the eastern shore of Lake Michigan.
Chicago. An incredible experience. Modern-American city yet somewhat felt European. Architecture is breathtaking, people are nice, views are amazing. I just wish things didn't close as early as they did. Boat tour of the city was great, Sear Tower was incredible. Followed by a walk around the city in the night. We must have walked for 10 miles that day. If it wasn't for the harsh winters we would have considered living here.
Driving, I hate you! Pennsylvania is a good contrast to flat Ohio. Very beautiful state. I htink next trip might be to lake Erie. Night spent at Misha and Katya's followed by a short and familiar drive home.
